Who is Josh and what is his experience?

Josh is a dedicated tutor with over 13 years of classroom teaching experience. He specialises in making complex topics manageable and building academic confidence in students of all ages.

Is the tutoring conducted online or in-person?

All sessions are held online via secure video platforms. This offers complete convenience for parents and a comfortable, familiar learning environment for children. If you are looking for in-person tuition and you leave in Portsmouth or Hampshire, please reach out via email, text or phone.

Do I need any special equipment for online sessions?

Only a computer or tablet with a steady internet connection and a microphone/camera is required. We use Zoom for our lessons but a subscription is not required. It is best to have quick access to pen and paper for ideas but all work is displayed on screen. We use parent-friendly tools that are easy to set up in minutes.

Booking & Payments

How do I book a lesson with Josh?

Booking a session is simple. Browse Josh's availability on our booking page, select a time that works for your family, and complete the checkout process. You'll receive a confirmation email with all the details instantly. If you would rather, please get in contact via email, text or phone.

What payment methods are accepted?

We process all payments securely online. We accept all major credit and debit cards, as well as bank transfers via our payment portal. Initial payment is settled at the time of booking to ensure your preferred time slot is reserved and ongoing sessions are billed monthly.

Can I cancel or reschedule my session?

Yes, we offer flexible rescheduling. If you need to change or cancel a lesson, you can do so through your account dashboard or by emailing Josh directly (josh@jp-learning.co.uk). For a full refund or credit, please ensure changes are made at least 24 hours before the session starts.

Are there discounts for block bookings?

Absolutely. We encourage consistency for long-term progress. When you book a block of lessons, we offer discounted rates compared to single sessions. This also secures your child's time slot for the duration of the term.

What primary school levels do you support?

I work with students from Year 3 through to Year 6. My sessions focus on core English and Maths, helping children master the basics and gain the confidence to participate fully in class.

Which GCSE subjects can you help my child with?

I specialise in GCSE Maths, English Language, English Literature, History and Classical Civilisations. Each session is tailored to specific curricula, ensuring students are well-prepared for their upcoming assessments.

Do you offer support for A-Level and University Prep?

Yes, I provide advanced tuition for A-Level English Literature, English Language and Classical Civilisations. I also offer guidance on study skills and academic writing to help students transition smoothly from secondary school to university life.
